Nike recently treated sneaker fans to the Air Raid Jungle Gym from 1993 (which we covered here at Sneakerjawns), and now we're getting the 2014 remake. The Air Raid brand has been building some steam this year with the Air Raid Low, Air Raid Jungle Gym, and Air Raid OG, and notably the Nike Air Max 1 featuring in the Live Together Play Together Pack with a Jungle Gym colorway. On top of that, the 90s silhouette is getting releases at the beginning of the year with the Air Raid 2014 remake and the Air Raid Ray Guns. The old silhouette is getting some attention from their makers, that is Nike, to give more variations to the classic style. The Nike Air Raid has much lore to it, designed by Tinker Hatfield as an outdoor counterpart to the Air Jordans, featured in commercials with Spike Lee, hence the Live Together Play Together ethos. Due to it's popularity, Nike's Air Force 1 has to keep evolving to stay in the game. We have seen the iconic sneakers take on various forms in its lifetime, from cool renditions to insane creations. We're looking at you, Air Force 1 Wagyu Beef.
This time around Nike is giving us gold to go with our Air Force 1s. Alot of gold. It really gives a premium look to the super popular silhouette. The design is not as crazy as Nike's previous ventures this year but it does stand out with all the bling.
Let's take a closer look at the Nike Air Force 1 Gold. In addition to the gold metal and white midsoles/outsles it uses a two tone aesthetic, that of tan and black. The tan covers the toe box, eyestays, swoosh back heel while black colors the laterals, laces, tongue and color. The tongue's logo is shown in raised gold metal.
There's a gold dubrae at the tongue's bottom with a small gold chain attached. The "AIR" on the midsole also is in gold. The Nike Air Force 1 "Gold Chain" should have availabilty through Nike.com and selected stores very soon.
