Nike SB “Vertebrae“

Nike SB has long been known for their innovative and cutting-edge designs when it comes to skateboarding shoes. The latest addition to their lineup, the Nike SB Vertebrae, is no exception. This shoe is specifically designed for vert skaters, with features that cater to the unique demands of skating in a vertical ramp setting. One of the standout features of the Nike SB Vertebrae is its lightweight construction. The shoe is crafted from a combination of durable materials that provide support and protection without adding unnecessary bulk. This makes it easier for skaters to execute complex tricks and maneuvers while maintaining a high level of control and precision. Medicom is still in the sneaker game, and still making colorful miniature animals. Although the shoe releasing part is like a part time gig, their collaborations with Nike which go way back is always a sight to see. Nike/Medicom collaborations tend to have a toyish, furry vibe.

The toy company's dealings with Nike's Low Dunks is duly noted as most of, if not all their releases have been with this popular silhouette. And remember too that Medicom has been doing business with Nike since 2004 so Medicom/Low Dunks have been in a relationship for 16 years, going strong.

The Japanese toy company seem to be happy with the business arrangement. Although it's collaboration hasn't been on the wild side in terms of design, the branding is noteworthy. This recent iteration is the most wild design we have seen from a Medicom/Nike collaboration. It's furry, that's wild.

Early this year, the pair released the Medicom X Nike Be@rbrick, which was furry black, but this time it's furry brown. So this Low Dunk can match with your black or brown furry pet if you're thinking of twinning. That's a joke.

The popularity of Medicom's 2004 collaboration with Nike in producing a white, blue and orange Low Dunk, and they've been riding the hype train ever since with their Be@4brick branding. They've delivered some interesting takes on Dunks using reflective uppers, canvases and denim. But the company had yet to embrace its furry side until 2020. It goes with their mascot which is a bear, and their logo using the "@' symbol morphed into the head of a bear.

The branding this is the most harmonious we have seen. They've used the Nike SB Blazer as a starting point, one of the silhouettes they had done before. The Medicom x Nike SB Dunk Low has a sail hairy upper, which gives off a premium furry look. The Medicom branding is not lost in all the fur, as you can see it at the heel and the hairless tongue.

The stich work is apparent through out the shoe, adding character and harmonizing with the black heel tab. The vulcanized soles finish off the "wild" look while the inner soles has Nike's Swoosh and SB logo and Medicom's Bearbrick logo and toy prints.

The Medicom x Nike Bearbrick will launch on December 26th.
