Nike recently treated sneaker fans to the Air Raid Jungle Gym from 1993 (which we covered here at Sneakerjawns), and now we're getting the 2014 remake. The Air Raid brand has been building some steam this year with the Air Raid Low, Air Raid Jungle Gym, and Air Raid OG, and notably the Nike Air Max 1 featuring in the Live Together Play Together Pack with a Jungle Gym colorway. On top of that, the 90s silhouette is getting releases at the beginning of the year with the Air Raid 2014 remake and the Air Raid Ray Guns. The old silhouette is getting some attention from their makers, that is Nike, to give more variations to the classic style. The Nike Air Raid has much lore to it, designed by Tinker Hatfield as an outdoor counterpart to the Air Jordans, featured in commercials with Spike Lee, hence the Live Together Play Together ethos. The 2014 Black and White Air Raid is not as colorful as the jungle gym, but style doesn't always come with flare. Let's ...
Can't decide on a low or top in the Jordan line up? Whether you're a low guy, high guy or both the Air Jordan 1 Switch has something for because it enables you to switch between high and low. This 2 for 1 package is the latest in a line up of Jordans coming our as this year ends and next year begins. The Jordan switch's switch mechanic is not often seen in the world of sneaker releases.
Add the fact that Jordans are crazy expensive offering this two for one deal is kind of generous seeing this hasn't been done in Jordan history. We have seen zipper-like convertible constructions from Neil Barret, which is like $400 but the Jordan Switch will cost you $150.
The two way concept hasn't been indulged in as of yet, but this may open the flood gates. Nothing surprises in this age of sneakers, as designers let their imaginations run wild with concepts like the recent Air Force 1 sneakers by Bait which come with beef-like stick ons. The Nike Jordan Switch promotes a simple mechanic we're likely to see more of in the coming years, perhaps more Jordans following this style and more creators pushing the depths of creativity.
Let's look closer at the Jordan 1 High Top Switch, as there are subtle differences. There are bound to be as this is a mixture of the Jordan High and Jordan Low. The model had been on radar earlier this year, and is showing up now on social media and internet blogs with a grey theme and yellow accents comprised of laces and zipper that adds a nice touch of color.
The light grey which overlay the sneakers are made from premium suede, while the white counterpart which balances the theme is made from smooth leather. The Jordan 1 High Top looks different as seen from the official images, and likely it will feel a little different too.
The bottom part is close in structure to the low top, so it will feel more likely like you're wearing lows even when you have the top part zippered and attached. When the top part is removed, part of the yellow zipper remains on the lining on the low top, which is a nice effect.
The Air Jordan 1 High Top Switch will be launching soon.
