The Ozweego goes way back, way back into the 90s yet we're still getting fresh takes on the classic with the latest Adidas Originals of the Ozweego Celox. If you still call them "Weegz" you were born and raised in the 90s or a little before that.
The Ozweego Celox looks all futuristic and sleek, and Adidas has done a good job of progressing the silhouette while staying true to roots and aesthetics. You can still tell this is the much loved chunky sneakers from twenty plus years ago by looking at the futuristic Ozweego Celox. It's much shinier and slimmed down but the same.
Since 1996 we have gotten a ton of remakes, and even from 2019-2020 alone we got the Ozweego Neoprene, the Ozweego Replicant, the Ozweego Capsule which was striking with its mirrored finish lower part.
The experimentation the Ozweego has been getting really shows this shoe will be with us for some time. At the original launch date it was the recipient of the adiPRENE shock absorbing technology, which struck a chord with leisure joggers.
The Ozweego always had a somewhat sci fi vibe, especially when the Ozweego Millennium (4th) launched in the early 2000s with a silver palette with stripes of yellow green on the laterals. Adidas' Ozweego Celox takes the Ozweego’s already futuristic aesthetic to the next level, swapping out the performance-focused mesh for a one-piece synthetic shell.
Let's take a look at the outer workings of the Adidas Ozweego Celox:
Adidas has been focusing on the future in recent years, as can be interpreted with their partnership with NASA. The Ozweego Celox sports forward thinking ideals. Solar toned mesh inserts can be seen through the solar yellow hard shell. It's indicative of space metal or alien metal, if you're imaginative.
The solar yellow hard shell or cage extends from the forefoot to almost the backheel. Adidas' branding is quite small but stands out in color tone against the yellow hard shell. The white midsole features adiPRENE labeling with green translucent outsoles beneath.
Interestingly, the black tongue is tilted to one side so the Adidas branding can clearly be seen from a sideways angle. The heel tag has the same yellow color of the hard shell which creates the look of a finished, polished product. The Adidas Ozweego Celox is available at select retailers today.
