Let's take a look at the Adidas Nasa Ultra Boost DNA "Black Core." We're getting black hole vibes, but maybe it's just us. While we're covering this one, we will talk about the Adidas Nasa Ultra Boost DNA "Signal Green," which you get it, glows in the dark. It will be releasing one day after the Black Core.
The starry space theme is strong in this month's NASA/Adidas offerings, and follow the trend of the ongoing partnership. You've probably seen a pair of ultra boosts floating in space, if you've spent significant time on social media and have Adidas ads following you.
Adidas seems to be reaching for the stars in their business partnership with NASA. If you didn't know now you know. The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) has "landed" into the sneaker industry and has chosen to partner with Adidas. Not that Nasa hasn't taken an intergalactic interest in fashion, as you will be many people walking around these days with NASA merch. And you don't have to have a physics degree or know the rules of time of space or be geeky to wear the clothing. Nasa branding is cool for everyone.
Their partnership began in November 2019 and sets out to explore the boundaries and limits of sneaker design as Adidas tests shoe development in outer space to improve our footwear here on earth.
What's in it for Nasa? Well, we're not sure. Getting their branding on premium shoes is our best bet. They are assisting Adidas in making next gen sneakers, so there's that. They have the means in terms of creating the environment for Adidas' research and development team to do their testing.
Let's look closely at the Black Core. It's simple in design yet fits the mold of the partnership. As in the name, black is the dominant color on this silhouette with grey profile cages adding some flare and structure. It may be just us, but the grey seems like a nod to space rocks, the moon, or something "up there."
There trailing extension of the cage finishes near the heel. It's more of a glossy grey compared to the matte finish of the lateral cage.
What's new this time around is NASA's branding on the sock liner. There's also new branding on the tongue with NASA's revamped Artemis logo. Let's touch on Adidas'/NASA's glow in the dark offering.
This month they're launching a "Signal Green Pack." The prime knit uppers have pastel colors of green and pink as deduced from official images, and look capable of glowing in the dark. It features pink around the lace holes with three black stripes going down the cage on both sides. The Adidas NASA Ultra Boost DNA "Black Core" launches on December 6th and the Adidas NASA Ultra Boost DNA "Signal Green" launches on December 7th.
