Jordans are synonymous with love for basketball and have been the iconic shoe for the game since the '90s. Because of Michael Jordan, Chicago will always be remembered for the Bulls dynasty.
In honor of Chicago hosting the All-Star weekend, Nike has seen it fit to drop a memorable pair of Jordans using the beloved Air Jordan 3's silhouette.
And it's not surprising that Nike chose one of the Jordans in the upper echelon of the line, in the same league as Air Jordans 1, and in some sneaker fan circles regarded as number 1 of all time, beating out the first pair ever made.
Nike's marketing department surely had a hand in this grouping of Chicago, All-Star Weekend, and Jordans. It's the perfect time to drop such iconic sneakers at a celebration of the game. Any basketball lover and avid collector will want a pair of these" Chi Jordan." It's all in remembrance of Jordan's historical time with the bulls and will strike a chord with fans.
The Chicago styled Jordans keeps some of the old and tries some new things. The elephant print used in past iterations has been kept as in the iconic original. The elephant print is a must to feel like Jordan 3's. It's a tradition for fans.
Nike has passed the cement leather upper of the Jordan 3 Retro Black Cement onto this pair, but the top is now" Chicago" red. The 88' version's mid-cut makes a nice comeback, going up more on the ankle and providing more comfort than recent releases that have caused some skin agitation for some customers with friction on their Achilles, so we like the change.
The Air Jordan 3" Red Cement" will be released on February 15th in family sizing during the All-Star Weekend with a $200 price tag. Remember, two versions will be dropping, the standard" Retro SE" version with regular Nike branding and Chicago-exclusive" Retro U" with the unique" Nike Chi," replacing standard branding on the heel and inner sole. It's a nice touch for Chicago and basketball fans.
And we can expect more inspired Jordans this year, so check back for more news on releases this year.
